Study Online

The University of Martialyogarts is an online learning institution where students and instructors of the martial arts come together to expand their martial knowledge. Instructors who teach through UOM provide you, the student, with every avenue available for the best training experience possible. In the fast paced 21st century, studying the martial arts has become harder in some ways and easier in others. Having online access to videos made by your instructor allows you to study with more proficiency and to utilize your training time wisely. Immediate online access to training materials, including course manuals and books, also enhances the training you receive from your instructor.

The University of Martialyogarts also pairs up instructors and new students allowing training that may not be otherwise available to the student due to location or time constraints. However, at UOM you do not simply watch videos to learn martial arts. Online training is not a substitute for training with an instructor who oversees and takes responsibility for your training. At UOM, you will find instructors who want to use the newest training tools to allow you to train with them and who want to provide a course of study for you that fits your hectic lifestyle, while still providing the quality of training you need to excel!

University Martial Arts Team Challenge

The University Martial Arts Team Challenge is a prestigious annual semi-contact martial arts competition between universities and university colleges. There is no limit on the number of teams that can be entered by a university or college, but each must consist of five male and two female competitors who should be either students or tutors engaged on full or part-time courses at the university or college they represent. The format has been designed to specifically include martial artists engaged in the pursuit of academic qualifications. These events can be entered by anyone engaged in karate, judo, taekwondo, kungfu, kickboxing or muay thai, all of which are easily adapted to semi-contact rules.

Team members will receive first, second or third place medals; there will be special awards for the best male and female competitor; outstanding fighters could be selected for the WorldMYA National Teams and fully sponsored to represent their country at international events. The winning team will be declared ‘University Martial Arts Team Champions for the year of participation, and their university or college name will be engraved on the WorldMYA University Martial Arts Challenge Trophy for the appropriate year.

These annual competitions are open to all European universities, and the rules and weight categories are those stipulated by the WorldMYA Executive Board. All events will end with an evening of presentations, demonstrations and cultural entertainment, and the World Martial Arts Council will endeavour to arrange media coverage throughout. All officials have been fully trained, are internationally recognized, and fully qualified. They have no connection with, or interest in, any participating universities or colleges, and are totally unbiased. These events will become the largest annual inter-university sporting activity on the academic calendar throughout Europe, and to represent a university or college should be considered an exceptional honour that could lead to opportunities at international level.
